Privacy Policy

The Review regards privacy as the orderly management of facts it has wisely chosen not to acquire.

Information we collect

The Review requires no account and does not use advertising or audience analytics. Readers who merely read the Review are not asked for a name or email address. A reader who chooses to submit correspondence provides the information described below. What the Review does not need to know, it remains pleased to manage with complete confidence.

Correspondence with the Editor

When you submit correspondence, the Review collects your name, email address, selected category, message, confirmation that you are at least 13, and a record of your publication permission. It uses this information to review the submission, administer the editorial process, contact you about it if necessary, and decide whether to publish it with Professor Faintshaw's response.

The required permission allows the Review to edit and publish the submitted name and message, in whole or in part. Your email address is kept for editorial administration and will not be published. Submissions are available to the Review's editorial operators and to its hosting provider as needed to store, deliver, and protect the service. The Review does not sell correspondence or use it for advertising.

Correspondence is kept while it is needed for editorial consideration. If a submission is selected, the submitted material and permission record may be kept for as long as needed to prepare and maintain the resulting publication. Material that is not selected is removed when it is no longer needed for editorial review. The Professor's consideration may be exacting; it is not, however, an unlimited claim upon your inbox.

Browser storage

A reader may love a quotation without first presenting credentials. When you do, the site uses local browser storage to remember that choice on your device. The server stores only the quotation's aggregate reaction count and does not associate it with an individual visitor. Clearing this site's browser data removes the local record. Enthusiasm may therefore be counted without requiring the enthusiast to be.

Cookies and service providers

The Review has no wish to accompany readers after they leave. It does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Its hosting and security providers may process routine technical information or use essential technologies as necessary to deliver and protect the site. The Review does not sell personal information, having found restraint more economical.

Children

The Review is a general-audience publication and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The correspondence form requires each sender to confirm that they are at least 13. Its conclusions require an intellectual maturity the Review would not presume to demand of children, having observed how rarely it may be expected of adults.

Changes to this policy

This policy will be updated before the Review's information practices materially change. In doing so, the Review will take reasonable care not to place uncontextualized facts in the hands of readers before an appropriate conclusion has been prepared for them.
